SUMMER PROGRAMS START MONDAY, JUNE 10TH
|
Programs for YOU! Is there something you’ve always wanted to learn? Let us know and we’ll try to find an instructor. Do you have any skills you could share as an instructor or do you know anyone who might like instructing a class? Again, let us know. This is your Recreation Department!
Fee Assistance If you are aware of any children who are being denied the right to participate in recreation programs due to the fee structure, kindly inform the Hodgkins Park District. Requests will be considered on an individual basis.
Keep Your Pets Out of the Parks Please keep your dogs and other pets out of the parks. The presence of animals makes the maintenance of a clean and healthy environment much more difficult. It also prevents many persons from enjoying the parks.

Dear Park District Patrons,
The Hodgkins Park District is happy to announce the beginning of our building
expansion and renovation! Construction will officially start in June, but we are getting
everything ready well before then. Programs, open gym, rentals, and fitness
activities will continue to be offered with only a slight modification to our schedule.
We are going to try our best to keep our transition as seamless as possible, but we
thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this time.
Programs
The Park District will continue to offer quality recreation programs. Through creative
utilization of space and time, programming will remain intact, including Tot-Time
and our summer camp programs.
Open Gym
Get ready for extended hours! Starting in the fall, open gym hours will be as follows:
Monday and Wednesday: 3pm-6pm (K-6th); 6pm-9:30pm (7th and up)
Tuesday and Thursday: 3pm-6pm (K-6th); 7:30pm-9:30pm (7th and up)
Friday: 3pm-9pm (all ages)
Saturday: 10am-2pm (all ages)
Sunday: 10am-2pm (all ages)
Summer hours will remain the same.
Rentals
Rentals will continue on throughout the construction process. Instead of using our
multipurpose for parties, our gymnasium will become the new rental space until
construction has been completed. The price will remain the same, only you get
double the amount of space! Please be aware of the following modifications:
The security fee will still apply to parties of 100 or more.
The additional $30 per hour fee assessed to parties taking place after 6:00pm, will
now be pushed back to 8:00pm.
There will be no access to the kitchen during this time, but a refrigerator and
microwave will be provided for your convenience.
Rental cannot start earlier than 2:00pm on the weekends to accommodate open
gym hours.
Decorations will be limited to table centerpieces. We do not allow tape on our wall
mats.
Our new rental format will not officially start until June. However, because we are not
sure if construction will take place earlier than June, parties reserved during the
month of May have the possibility of taking place in the gymnasium. We will call the
week before your rental to let you know if construction has started (please be aware
that if construction starts in the month of May, your rental will be subject to the listed
modifications). We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Fitness Activities
The fitness center will remain open during construction. We hope to have the new
fitness area completed before we have to close the existing facility. If we have to
close the fitness center, patrons who purchased memberships will have them
prorated after the new facility becomes available. No one will lose membership time
due to our project.
We appreciate your patience during this process. If you should ever have any
questions regarding the project, or the park district in general, please do not
hesitate to contact me at 708-354-6563 ext. 2 or Eileen at 708-354-6563 ext. 3.
Thank you,
Kelly Young, Executive Director of Parks and Recreation

SAFE USAGE OF PLAYGROUNDS & PARKS It is important that all adults take time to learn about playground safety for the sake of their children—to be properly motivated to protect all children from unnecessary hurt and risks in their play.
Children should be free to imagine that they are flying on the swing, sliding down a mountain, riding wild animals, an Olympic gymnast, or climbing to the sky. You can guarantee their freedom by protecting them, teaching them and supervising them.
You Can
- Select the playground equipment they use
wisely
- Instruct children how to use it safely to protect
themselves and their playmates
- Supervise their play to correct behavior and
prevent accidents before they occur. You can help make the playground a safer place by helping children to—
